Marie Gudme Leth was a Danish Fabric designer born in 1895, who revolutionised the perception of fabric printing, creating stunning works of art. Her patterns are often of exquisite, vibrant floral and animal prints. The designs became more intricate and colourful following a trip to Germany in the 1930’s, where Leth realised that the techniques used in screen printing would be transferable to fabric printing.
She is commonly referred to as the pioneer of print, and Marie still continues to inspire modern textile designers. Below are some pictures of her elegant fabric prints, that we found particularly dignified.
