What does the human resources assistant internship program involve?

Learning & Development Objectives

You will have the opportunity to learn and develop essential skills that are fundamental to a successful career in human resources within a corporate setting. The key learning and development areas include:

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:

  • Assist in the recruitment process, including sourcing candidates, conducting initial screenings, and coordinating interviews.
  • Learn how to create compelling job postings and attract top talent for various roles within the organization.

Employee Engagement & Retention:

  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives, including organizing team-building activities and recognition programs.
  • Assist in conducting employee surveys and feedback sessions to gauge satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.

Training and development:

  • Support the HR team in organizing training sessions and workshops for employees’ skill development and career growth.
  • Assist in creating training materials and resources for various programs.

HR policies and compliance:

  • Gain an understanding of HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining employee handbooks and HR-related documentation.

Performance management:

  • Assist in the performance appraisal process, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Learn how to provide feedback to employees and managers regarding performance evaluations.

Employee relations and conflict management:

  • Shadow HR professionals during employee relations discussions and conflict resolution processes.
  • Learn effective communication and problem-solving skills for handling workplace issues.

Tasks and responsibilities:

 

 

The human resources intern will be involved in a variety of tasks designed to enhance their skills and provide valuable HR support. Your tasks may include:

  • Assisting in the recruitment process, from job posting to candidate onboarding.
  • Coordinating and organising employee training sessions and workshops.
  • Participating in HR meetings and taking notes on key discussions and action items.
  • Assisting in updating and maintaining HR databases and employee records.
  • Contributing to the organization of employee engagement events and initiatives.
  • Researching HR best practices and industry trends to support continuous improvement.
  • Assisting in drafting HR-related communications and announcements for employees.
  • Providing general administrative support to the HR team as needed.

How do I enrol onto the program?

First you select whether you wish to do the standard or premium program and pay the appropriate preparation fee.  Whilst you are undertaking the preparation stage with our careers team, our placement team will be busy finding the 'best fit' internship for you.

Once you are interview ready, we will organise interviews with prospective intern partners.  When you have been offered and accepted an internship, you pay placement fee, and your 12-week internship will start.

We will keep in regular contact with you, so you never feel alone, including:

  • Monthly feedback sessions
  • Guided internship booklet

Premium Internship

Preparation:

We will work with you to develop your personal branding including:

  • CV/Résumé
  • Linkedin profile

We will assist you in preparing for interview including:

  • Strengthscope® assessment tool
  • Interview tips and tricks (one-to-one practice interview)

We will enhance your skills and knowledge in retail merchandise management including:

  • Foundations of Buying & Merchandise Planning online course       (value over $500)
  • 15% of any of our online courses

 

Internship:

We will find the most suitable internship for you from our internship partners, based on our knowledge of you and their company culture including:

  • Company introductions
  • 12 week internship in a production/QA department
  • Insurance (public liability & personal accident)

Standard Internship Fees

The standard internship fee is $1,990 and is paid in two parts as indicated below:

Preparation:  $795 (including GST)

Internship Placement:  $1,195 (including GST)

Premium Internship Fees

The premium internship fee is $2,490 and is paid in two parts as indicated below:

Preparation:  $1,295 (including GST)
